Center history

1990

The W. M. Keck Microscopy Center was established as the W. M. Keck Center for Advanced Studies in Neural Signaling through a grant from the W. M. Keck Foundation, enabling researchers in Neurobiology & Biophysics and Pharmacology to explore how nerve cells acquire, store, and transmit information.

Today

The Center has grown into a shared imaging facility serving the broader UW research community across Neurobiology & Biophysics, Pharmacology, Genome Sciences, Laboratory Medicine & Pathology, and many other departments. External, non-UW users are also welcome.

Steering Committee

The Keck Center is governed by a Steering Committee drawn from its supporting departments. The committee oversees strategic direction, equipment priorities, and facility policy. For inquiries directed to the Steering Committee, contact uwkeckcenter@uw.edu.
